Acne patches are effective for pimples that have already ruptured, as they aid in wound healing; however, they are not useful for unbroken, red, and swollen pimples.
They work primarily through hydrocolloid technology-a type of dressing that absorbs fluid and turns into a gel-to draw out wound exudate while covering the area to promote healing in a moist environment. Consequently, they are suitable for pimples that have already broken and are oozing pus. For unbroken pimples, there is no fluid to absorb, and keeping a patch on them may actually trap heat and moisture, potentially aggravating inflammation.
