Kinesiology tape was originally developed by Dr. Kenso Kase of Japan. Its name is derived from the prefix of the English word "kinesiology," and the Chinese translation-*jī nèi xiào* (literally "muscle-internal-effect")-aptly reflects the product's mechanism of action, which primarily targets muscles and other soft tissues; consequently, professionals in China commonly refer to it as "kinesiology tape" or "muscle function tape." Over years of development, the materials and application techniques associated with kinesiology tape have undergone continuous improvement, leading to its widespread adoption within the sports medicine communities of Europe, the United States, Taiwan, and Hong Kong. Athletes from many nations have utilized this tape during competition at major events, including the 2008 Beijing Olympics, the 2012 London Olympics, and numerous other large-scale international tournaments in recent years.
